A co-ed fitness facility has recently opened in Burlington after its owner, who runs a women’s only fitness club, repeatedly received requests from her clients to provide similar services for their husbands.  Linda Burden has operated Four Forty Fitness at 440 Pearl Street for the past 11 years.  She’s now opened Connections in a building next door at 442 Pearl.  Instead of being a membership establishment, Connections is appointment based.   It provides an opportunity for couples to work out together, men alone, or people of both sexes in small groups.  The club offers personal training, Pilates, yoga, massage, boxing, TRX and spin.  For more information, call 905-639-1440.

A new beauty bar will open in the north end of Hamilton next month.  Located at 146 James North at the corner of Cannon, The Ten Spot is being marketed as a place that offers an anti-spa experience.  Instead of the stuffy, relaxation approach taken by most spas, this establishment will be about having an efficient, high quality and fun aesthetic experience at a reasonable price.  Customers are encouraged to come in with their friends, socialize with other guests, learn beauty techniques from the staff or even watch TV.  Owner Kristen Wood, who moved to Hamilton two years ago, decided to open a beauty bar in this city after having established three successful locations in Toronto.  For more information, visit or call 289-309-1010.
