A new restaurant is scheduled to open in downtown Hamilton later this fall.  Prosecco will occupy the space that formerly housed Brownie’s Downtown Fine Food & Spirit at 275 King Street East.  The space is being totally renovated and the menu will offer traditional Italian fare with “a bit of an edge,” according to manager Luigi Campanella.  He says the food will be “like our mothers used to cook, with everything made from scratch using fresh ingredients.”  Plenty of appetizers will be on the menu, along with various brands of prosecco.  The chef for this new establishment is Marco Pecora, formerly of Romano’s Ristorante on Rymal Road.

Eastgate Square is once again hosting its Safe Trick or Treat event on October 31 from 5 to 7 p.m.  Parents are invited to bring their little ghosts and goblins, vampires and witches to trick or treat in the mall’s warm indoor environment.  The event is geared to children 10 years of age and under, and both kids and parents are invited to visit participating stores for treats and see the merchants in their own Halloween costumes.  For more information visit
