Region of Halton employee Linda Petelka has become the first Canadian woman to receive a “Top Ten Leader of the Year” award from the American Public Works Association. Linda is the region’s acting director of Business and Technical Services in the Department of Public Works. The award recognizes excellence in career achievement and is judged by peers in the association. It has been in existence for some 50 years. Of the nearly 500 recipients to date, only 12 have been women and only 28 have been Canadian. Linda was presented with the award at a recent Ontario Public Works Association event, and will be officially recognized at the American Public Works Association’s Congress in Columbus, Ohio, in September.
