Scott McCammon, general manager and vice-president of Operations of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce has been named to the Council of Excellence of the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada. One of only three certified chamber executives in Canada, Scott was the executive director of the Burlington Chamber of Commerce from 1993 until 2004. His leadership in Burlington, contributions to the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, mentorship of chamber professionals throughout Canada, and his commitment to the profession were mentioned in the announcement about his award.
The Council of Excellence is the most prestigious award presented to chamber professionals in Canada, and only presented when there is a nominee who merits extraordinary recognition.

Sam Mercanti, president and CEO of Hamilton’s CARSTAR Automotive Canada Inc. last week presented a cheque for just over $100,000 to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a result of fundraising efforts the company has undertaken throughout the year. The most recent fundraising event was an annual Casino Night Gala, held last Friday night at Carmen’s Banquet Hall, and attended by more than 700 people.
Over the past 10 years, CARSTAR has raised more than $1.7 million to fund research and treatment in the fight against cystic fibrosis. “We are all very passionate about finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and this is something that is shared by all our franchise owners, our staff and our insurance and vendor partners all across Canada,” Sam says.
