Three young mothers are working together in separate retail ventures on Ottawa Street in Hamilton to make an impact on the way people shop for kids.  Anj Colyn, Jodi Pronk and Tamara Watson are sharing space at 164 Ottawa Street North and helping each other with their sales and service.

Colyn runs a cloth diaper shop with some 16 brands of diapers, accessories, cream and detergents; Pronk has Little Bird, a kids’ consignment shop with high quality, gently used clothing; and Watson sells baby slings and carriers.  Their space is kid friendly – they often bring their own children to work.  Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. the women host a popular story time for preschoolers.  For more information, visit www.rediaper.ca or www.littlebirdhamilton.com

Burlington’s Tija Ceramic Studios opened its doors at a new Burlington location this week at 561 Wedgewood Drive, Unit 9, in Pinedale Plaza.  The studio has 2,500 square feet of indoor creative space, an on-site kiln, coffee café, private party room and a large outdoor patio.

Only days before opening to the public at the new location, the studio was used for the taping of an episode of a new television show, “Inside the Box,” starring design celebrity Ty Pennington, and is scheduled to air on W Network this fall.  The show’s producers wanted to use the studio for inspiration for two local friends who go head to head to show who has the best knack for interior design.
