A group of 23 local artists have opened a new gallery in the north end of Hamilton.  The artists have banded together to display and sell their work at one location, AllSorts Gallery at 244 Ottawa Street North.  The gallery offers a lively mix of mediums ranging from painting, metal and woodwork, to ceramics, jewellery, sculpture, handmade stamps, textiles and hand-blown glass.

Ancaster based potter Tony Cabral put the cooperative together last year.  “I create the co-op because I really believe it’s an effective way for artists and artisans to collectively pool resources,” he says.  “Our goal is to provide a venue for local artists to show their work together in an open environment and where members have ownership in a true, grass-roots venture.”

After some time in hiatus, the Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association (CIBPA) Hamilton Halton has re-launched.  Initially established in 1949, the association is a non-profit organization with a mandate to promote and strengthen the image of Canadians of Italian background.

“We are the voice of the Italian Canadian business and professional community in Hamilton-Halton and are proud to celebrate our Italian heritage,” says interim president Bennie Esposto.  The benefits of membership include providing a networking forum, serving as a voice on behalf of the local Italian Canadian community, and providing public policies that inspire entrepreneurial activity and foster cooperation between the private sector and government.
